But fortunately for CH fans, there is an excellent backup in the form of Alexander Romanov, Jordan Harris and, most importantly Kaiden Guhle.
The team's first pick in the 2020 draft is making many scouts take notice and as Charles-Alexis Brisebois of Danslescoulisses.com reports, some experts even consider him the best junior defenceman in Canada.
That's what journalist Luc Gélinas said during his appearance on 91.9 Sports. The latter recently spoke with two journalists from Western Canada and they were very complimentary of the Canadiens' prospect.
Which is very promising for the future, as Guhle will be playing his first professional season next year and he'll have the chance to represent Canada again at the World Junior next summer in Edmonton.
He was the captain of the Canadian team before the tournament was postponed to August due to the COVID-19.
Gélinas also spoke about another Canadian prospect on the blue line, Logan Mailloux, and said that he's getting nothing but good things said about him right now, both on the ice and in terms of his demeanor.
He is convinced that the Habs have two potential gems and is looking forward to seeing these two defensemen play together in Montreal.
Are you looking forward to seeing Guhle and Mailloux play on the same defense pair with the Habs one day?
