We are two weeks away from the NHL trade deadline and the majority of Canadiens fans expect to see many trades.
A Habs defender, who is less talked about, and who will also be a free agent at the end of the season is Brett Kulak.
Could he be traded? According to recent reports, no. The chances of seeing Kulak stay in Montreal are very good and he could even sign a new contract!
At least that's what Sportsnet insider Eric Engels reported.
A market could open up for Kulak if he continues to play like he did yesterday. However, if the CH does not want to rush Guhle and Harris or if the organization wants a good veteran who can help them, it might be more reasonable to offer Kulak a rewarding contract.
The 28-year-old defenseman could serve as a mentor for young defense prospects for the Canadiens and his presence would allow Martin St-Louis to count on a reliable d-man until the end of the season. He would somehow make up for the inevitable loss of Ben Chiarot and since he's not expected to break the bank with a possible new contract, his salary won't weigh too heavily on the team's salary cap.
Do you like the idea of seeing Brett Kulak sign a contract extension and stay with the Canadiens?
