In his most recent article on Montreal Hockey Now, the excellent Marco D'Amico reports on some very interesting recent comments from Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes.
Hughes recently made it clear that he wants to make some changes to his lineup, by the start of next season, specifically on the blue line.
The Habs GM (with his usual transparency) did not hide his desire to add another defenseman to his group.
Will it be an impact defenseman, a veteran or a depth defenseman? It will be interesting to see, but expect Montreal to acquire a back in the next few weeks via trade or waivers.
"If we are able to find, and we believe it will absolutely be possible on the trade market or via waivers, we would like to acquire a right-handed defenseman that would be available to us. We'll continue to study that and work on that."
- Kent Hughes
So it seems pretty clear, Hughes and Gorton want a right-handed defenseman, as their next acquisition, but the general manager still added that in case of injury or whatever, he has confidence in his group.
Which right-handed defenseman would you target instead of Hughes? A big name, a good veteran, or another youngster?
