Last-minute official announcement: alert on the signing of the first-round pick, a name you know well, Nikita Scherbak
We have news of a former Montreal Canadien.
The team's first-round pick in 2014, Nikita Scherbak, has just signed a new contract.
Where did he end up?
He just landed a contract with the Ducs d'Angers, in the top league in France.
Scherbak had initially signed there, but problems with his work visa delayed his arrival. Everything is now settled!
Let's recall that he was shown the door by his team in the Czech Republic last year because of his Russian nationality. He ended up finishing the season with a club in Slovakia.
We wish him the best of luck.
Scherbak, 27, is a 6-foot-1 winger weighing 174 pounds. He was the 26th overall pick (first round) by the Montreal Canadiens in 2014.
In his NHL career, he has accumulated 8 points in 37 games. Last season, he collected 10 points in 14 games in Slovakia, and 5 points in 5 games in the Czech Republic.
Details to follow.
