Announcement from the Montreal Canadiens: finally some good news for the fans today and it concerns the excellent Cole Caufield
While he was on track for a 40-goal season or more last year, misfortune struck Cole Caufield, and on January 21st, it was announced that his season had ended. The number 22 had injured his right shoulder and had to undergo surgery that required about six months of full rehabilitation.
The good news is that the six months have indeed passed, and the small forward should be in position for the opening of the Canadiens' training camp in September.
However, for some fans, they fear that the injury Caufield suffered will hamper him, not only for the upcoming season but for the rest of his career.
But, as reported byAlexandre Desrosiers, of website Rumeursdetransaction.com, his assistant coach was reassuring about what's next for number 22.
Alexandre Burrows stated in a recent press conference that he had been through this during his career.
Here are his explanations:
"I had an injury very similar to his during my career. I also had to undergo surgery. I had to follow a nearly six-month rehabilitation period. But it came back 100%, and I'd even say it's my strongest shoulder. I know Cole followed the doctors' protocol to the letter. He trained hard. I know he's going to come back in shape, hoping to have a big season with us. I don't think he will be fearful about his shoulder. You strengthen the muscles around the affected ligaments so much that there's nothing to fear. Moreover, Cole's role is not to play physically."
That's quite reassuring, great news. An official confirmation from the Canadiens should be imminent.
The Canadiens' training camp will start in less than a month, and let's just say that the team's fans are starting to get eager for the 2023-2024 season to begin.
