Leon Draisaitl is one of the best players in the league, but we all tend to overlook him for no reason. We talk about Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon or Nikita Kucherov, while Draisaitl is left out.
The German has accomplished a feat that even his teammate, who has been recognized as the best player on the planet for the past three years, has yet to achieve. Draisaitl may not be as explosive, fast and flashy as his teammate McDavid, but he is just as effective. He performs at the same or very similar rate without playing with him.
That being said, in Wednesday night's matchup against the Nashville Predators, Draisaitl reached the 20-point mark in only his 9th game with a terrific two-goal, one-assist performance. He became the first player to reach the 20-point mark this year and the first to do so in less than 10 games since Mario Lemieux in 2002-03.
The number 29 became the second in the Oilers franchise to achieve such a feat after Wayne Gretzky, who did so on five occasions.
