We know that Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens attempted something big at the trade deadline, and we know that it didn't work out.

The general manager mentioned it himself.

One of the biggest reasons this major trade didn't go through was likely the high asking prices.

Speaking of prices, some answers are starting to emerge.

David Pagnotta reveals what the Montreal Canadiens had to trade to acquire forward Brock Boeser

In his latest article, insider David Pagnotta revealed what the Canucks were asking in return for sniper Brock Boeser.

"The Canucks wanted a first-round pick for Boeser."

It's quite surprising to see that they weren't even able to get a first-round pick in exchange for Boeser.

Knowing this, do you think the Montreal Canadiens should have given the Flames' first-round pick in exchange for Boeser?

It could have been a big addition, but well, I suppose there's a good reason why no NHL team (including the Habs) was willing to give up a first-round pick to acquire Boeser.

At 28 years old, Boeser is a 6-foot-1, 208-pound forward who was selected 23rd overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2015 NHL Draft (1st round). He has put up a solid 38 points in 55 games this season, including 18 goals.

Last season, he recorded 73 points, including 40 goals, with the Canucks.
