As you know, Montreal Canadiens forward Patrik Laine was absent for the game against the Calgary Flames. We were curious to see who would replace Laine, not only at five-on-five but also on the power play.

At five-on-five, the role was shared, notably between Josh Anderson and Michael Pezzetta.

It seems to have worked out well, according to journalist Jonathan Bernier.

"In his absence, Martin St-Louis chose to place Josh Anderson on the right of Alex Newhook and Owen Beck. It must be admitted that the dynamic was very different with Anderson's energy compared to the Finnish forward, whose motor is constantly in energy-saving mode."

That said, there was also a new face on the first power-play unit last night.

Joel Armia replaces Patrik Laine on the power play

This is an interesting choice, especially considering Joel Armia's significant role on the penalty kill.

"In Patrik Laine's absence, it is Joel Armia who is playing on the Canadiens' first power-play unit."

I would have liked to see Emil Heineman or Alex Newhook get this opportunity, but you can't say Joel Armia didn't earn it.. And you can't say it's to boost Armia's trade value, knowing, of course, that the trade deadline has already passed.

Do you like this choice, knowing that Laine could miss a few games? (if we go by his most recent absence)

As Max Truman mentioned, the last time he had the flu, he missed 10 days of hockey activity.
