Major last-minute announcement involving the Montreal Canadiens
In the last few minutes, the Montreal Canadiens have made a major announcement.
"The Canadiens will celebrate diversity and inclusion as part of Pride Night presented by Scotiabank on January 15th next!"
- Montreal Canadiens
We love it! It's a very strong message sent to Gary Bettman and the National Hockey League.
It should be noted that the NHL decided in June to prohibit teams from wearing thematic jerseys (including colors to celebrate diversity and inclusion) after a handful of players withdrew from these situations during pride nights last season. The league stated that players withdrawing from pride nights was a distraction from the work their teams were doing in the community.
In short, it will be interesting to see what the CH will do concretely on January 15th, but it's great to see that there will still be a Pride Night at the Bell Centre.
