While the Montreal Canadiens are currently in the midst of a complete rebuild, it is not surprising to see the team accumulate losses.
That's what we see in preseason, and that's what's likely to happen in season, but let's wait and see.
In any case, fans and observers alike seem to be ready to enjoy this process and look forward to the development of the youth.
Not everyone is, however.
Speaking to LCN this morning, Michel Bergeron commented on the Habs' upcoming season, and his comments really didn't go over well on social media.
"This is the Montreal Canadiens. The Montreal Canadiens can't afford to finish two consecutive seasons 32nd in the League.
I can't believe we're at this point. I can't believe the Habs are going to fight with the Flyers, Chicago and Arizona to get their hands on Bedard." - Michel Bergeron
These are controversial comments, because most fans don't think so. (Neither do Kent Hughes, Jeff Gorton or Martin St. Louis, for that matter.)
With the reality of 2022, a rebuild like the Habs are doing can be very positive for the future of a team and it doesn't happen with a snap of the fingers, it takes time, as my colleague David St-Jean mentions.
The present is not the past.
Do you believe, like Bergy, that the Montreal Canadiens must absolutely try to win as many games as possible this season, which could compromise the future?
Or do you believe that one last rebuilding season is in order?
