While the Montreal Canadiens have the ultimate priority and first right to speak, to claim players from waivers, we continue to monitor this very closely.
Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton have confirmed that they intend to use the waiver wire to improve their roster, so we don't know exactly when that will happen, but expect the Habs to eventually claim a player.
Just look at the players that were just placed on waivers today:
Islanders:
Parker Wotherspoon
Cory Schneider
Dennis Cholowski
Hudson Fasching
Arnaud Durandeau
Cole Bardreau
Andy Andreoff
Wild:
Brandon Baddock
Hurricanes:
Maxime Lajoie
Stelio Mattheos
Mackenzie Maceachern
Lane Pederson
Ryan Dzingel
Flyers:
Maxwell Willman
Adam Brooks
Louis Belpedio
You notice that there are indeed several former Tricolore players, including Brandon Baddock, Adam Brooks and Louie Belpedio.
There is also veteran goaltender Cory Schneider, former 20th overall pick, defenseman Dennis Cholowski, as well as Ryan Dzingel, who had 22 goals and 44 points, in 57 games with the Ottawa Sens in 2019.
More details to follow!
