Bedard is unique on the ice and could possibly become the best prospect since a certain Connor McDavid.
Another interesting fact about the young Bedard is that unlike many of the youngsters who have gone before him in the draft, he is very entertaining in interviews.
He's genuine, outspoken and not afraid to talk openly about the teams he prefers. Basically, he's staying away from the infamous tape, at least for now.
Bedard has made no secret of his interest in Canadian teams and big hockey markets, such as Vancouver and Montreal, which have been mentioned. His father recently spoke publicly about their interest in the Canadiens organization.
That being said, as the mid-season season quickly approaches in the National Hockey League, teams that are considered "less attractive", according to some, find themselves with a good chance of drafting Bedard.
The Arizona Coyotes come to mind.
If the Arizona Coyotes ever win the 2023 lottery, former NHL defenseman and now popular broadcaster Ryan Whitney believes we could possibly see a coup de théâtre.
As Marco Normandin reports, on his "Spittin' Chicklets" podcast, Whitney brought up the possibility of Bedard impersonating Eric Lindros:
Do you think this is a real possibility?
Let's face it, Bedard could very well take a dim view of starting his professional career in a college arena that barely seats 5,000.
We can recall that in 1991, Eric Lindros had announced to the Quebec Nordiques that he would never play for them, after being selected first overall.
However, recently, Lindros explained that the real reason behind this historic move was a dispute with Marcel Aubut.
Do you think that in 2023, knowing he has that power, Connor Bedard might decide to do the same thing, but for different reasons?
