Only one day after his first game as the Interim Head Coach of the Canadiens, the new head coach Martin St-Louis was a guest onDu Sport le Matin program on 91.9 Sports. According to Marco Normandin of the HabsloumentFan, it is considered rare for a Canadiens coach to meet the media the day after a game.
During the interview, host Louis-Philippe Guy asked St-Louis a question about the rumor that had recently been circulating about him being offered a 3-year contract by the management of the Canadiens.
St-Louis was very direct with his reply.
"No, that's not true. It's not even true. I'm here for 3 months and I'm going to show what I can do. If they think I'm the guy for the job, we'll talk about it. If they think I'm not and if I think I'm not, I'll move on." - Martin St-Louis
Fairly direct remarks from St-Louis and we must admit that it feels good to see him answer in such an honest way.
The coach was appointed on an interim basis by the organization and he will be reassessed after the season. If ever St-Louis is not back, the rumor machine will start again.
