The rivalries between NHL teams do not only affect the fans, but also the players. We have often seen some of the players refuse to move to the enemy via a transaction, because they have learned to royally dislike their rivals over the years. This was the case for Josh Gorges who, at the time, refused to join the Toronto Leafs because he couldn't stand the idea of wearing their jersey.
In a recent podcast, Nick Suzuki made a comment that shows that he would definitely make the same decision as Gorges if he was ever traded to the enemy. It all came about when he was asked about the Leafs' first-round woes again this season. The CH number 14's answer said it all.
"It was the first time I took for Tampa, so..." - Nick Suzuki
When you consider that Tampa eliminated the CH in the Stanley Cup Grand Final two years ago, we can imagine how much Suzuki might hate the Leafs for wishing they'd lose to the Lightning.
A true captain's answer!
