During the 2017-2018 season, forward Nicolas Deslauriers was one of the great stories during this rather miserable year for the Canadian. The Quebec forward, who was acquired from the Buffalo Sabers in October 2017 in return for defender Zach Redmond, had done good service for the team, scoring 10 goals in 58 games, while dropping the gloves a few occasions.

After another season in Montreal, Deslauriers was traded to the Anaheim Ducks in the summer of 2019, the team he still plays for. This season, he has collected 10 points, including 5 goals, in 56 games so far.

He was the guest of Maxim Lapierre and Guillaume Latendresse during the podcast La Poche Bleue on Wednesday evening.

As Deslauriers will become a free agent at the end of the season and Kent Hughes has already been his agent in the past, the famous question of a possible return to Montreal has of course been raised.

However, the latter wanted to moderate the expectations of the Canadiens fans by saying that a return to Montreal was not in his plans. He also looked back on his two-season stint with the team.

Despite having good times, he admitted that he didn't have a very good relationship with head coach Claude Julien and that there were certain restrictions from the organization regarding his fights. A surprising revelation.

A few weeks ago, you were told that Maxim Lapierre had proposed to Kent Hughes to bring back Nicolas Deslauriers to Montreal, in order to impose more respect on the ice.

But the team has since repositioned itself and the presence of a Michael Pezzetta in the lineup could mean that a player of Deslauriers' caliber wouldn't necessarily have the desired playing time.

To view Deslauriers' presence at La Poche Bleue, it's here.
