We know Phillip Danault very well with the Montreal Canadiens. The Quebecer has developed in the organization over the years, but a contractual disagreement led to a split between Danault's clan and that of the Habs.
Now a member of the Kings, Danault seems to be happy in Los Angeles with Anze Kopitar. With two days to go before facing his former teammates, it seems that Danault has decided to practice taking good shots at the net from the slot in practice. Could he have a certain goal in mind? Scoring against his former team could be liberating for #24.
During his time in Montreal, Danault was labeled as a strictly defensive forward. He barely touched the ice on the power play and was on every defensive assignment. He was good at what he did here, even though he didn't seem to really enjoy his role with the Bleu-blanc-rouge anymore.
By scoring against the Habs, I'm sure Danault would get some personal satisfaction. It would send a direct message to the Montreal organization that he is capable of scoring goals when given the opportunity.
We'll have our answers Saturday afternoon 😉
