NHL Hall of Famer and Toronto Maple Leafs legend Borje Slaming passed away in the last few hours at the age of 71.
Salming had Lou Gehrig's disease, a degenerative condition that attacks the upper motor neurons.
This is very sad news, just a few days after he was honoured at a Leafs game.
Salming played in 1148 NHL games, mostly with the Leafs, plus one season with the Detroit Red Wings.
