Sam Bennett was traded from the Calgary Flames to the Florida Panthers on April 12th because he was considered as a missing piece for the Florida club. With Joel Quenneville and the Panthers, Bennett quickly adapted to the system and his new teammates. As they say, he has found his home and a team that believes in him and his abilities.
With his 15-point performance for the Panthers, including six goals in ten regular season games, and his five-point playoff performance in five games proving that he is not just a one time deal, he forms an electrifying and complete line with Jonathan Huberdeau and Anthony Duclair. This is certainly what helped Bennett land a long-term deal with the Panthers.
Honestly, from the moment he arrived with the Panthers, it felt like a feel-good human and a player who could show, without embarrassment, that he is still a fourth overall pick from the 2014 auction. This team is gearing up for the 2021-22 campaign, one that will once again have an elite roster. I'll also remind you that Panthers general manager Bill Zito extended Duclair's deal (3 years/$9 million) on July 15.
