According to Nick Alberga (Sportsnet), in addition to Sean Monahan, Kent Hughes and the Canadiens have just acquired a first round pick from the Calgary Flames (another one).
Monahan, 27, was drafted 6th overall (first round) in 2013 by the Calgary Flames.
He amassed :
- 23 points in 65 games in 2021-22,
- 28 points in 50 games in 2020-21,
- 48 points in 70 games in 2019-20
and a solid 82 points (34 goals) in 78 games in 2018-19.
He played injured last season, but before that he was considered a good first line center. Note especially here the 82-point season in 2019.
Let's also remember that the Canadiens acquired the 2022 first round pick from the Flames last February in the trade that included Tyler Toffoli.
Kent Hughes (Montreal) and Brad Treliving (Calgary) definitely seem to get along well.
Wow! More details will follow on the complete and official trade!
