We have some news from the Montreal Canadiens at the start of this week. As we reported in the last few minutes, the organization announced the emergency recall of forward Joshua Roy earlier today.

The details are here.

We have an update on this.

Joshua Roy's recall means a forward has had to withdraw from tomorrow's game

See the post from Maxime Truman (DansLesCoulisses):

Since it's an emergency call-up, Roy will be the 12th forward.. meaning that a forward won't be able to play.

Laine? Pezzetta? Anderson?

- Max Truman

Since this is an emergency recall, we can conclude that a forward has already been ruled out for the next game (at the very least).

That forward is likely Patrik Laine, but it could also be Michael Pezzetta or Josh Anderson.

This will be a situation to monitor in the coming hours, especially when the Habs players take the ice in Vancouver this afternoon.

It's worth noting that Laine missed his team's most recent game due to flu-like symptoms.

Laine, 26 years old, 6 feet 4 inches, and 208 pounds, has 24 points in 34 games this season with the Canadiens, including 14 goals. He already missed 10 days earlier this year due to flu-like symptoms.

Let's hope that's not the case again, but if the scenario repeats, he might not play for the rest of the Western road trip.

Our prediction: Joshua Roy will replace Patrik Laine in the lineup for tomorrow's game, and another player (Alex Newhook?) will be moved to center to replace Owen Beck, who was sent back to the Laval Rocket this morning.

More details to follow.
