We have a last-minute announcement from the Montreal Canadiens to start the week.

The organization has just announced the emergency recall of forward Joshua Roy from the Laval Rocket, while Owen Beck has been assigned to the Laval Rocket.

See the official statement here:

Two roster moves raising questions for the Canadiens with Joshua Roy and Owen Beck

What's peculiar here is that Kent Hughes recalled a winger while sending down a center.

Who will be the new second-line center for the Montreal Canadiens to replace Owen Beck?

And who will be the four centers in Martin St-Louis' lineup?

We will get answers in the coming hours and during today's press conference with head coach Martin St-Louis.

The emergency recall of Joshua Roy likely means that winger Patrik Laine's absence will be extended (due to flu-like symptoms), but it doesn't fully explain Owen Beck's reassignment to Laval.

At 21 years old, Joshua Roy has recorded 35 points in 46 games this season with the Laval Rocket, including 20 goals. He has also registered 0 points in 4 games with the Montreal Canadiens. (9 points in 27 career games in the NHL)

Also 21 years old, Owen Beck has accumulated 32 points in 47 games this season with the Laval Rocket, including 13 goals, and has added 1 point in 12 games with the Montreal Canadiens.

This will be a situation to monitor in the coming hours, as it feels like something else is on the horizon.

More details to follow.
