One of the only good things about finishing at the bottom of the standings is that the chances of getting the very first pick in the NHL draft are very good. In fact, the team that finishes last has a 16.6% chance of winning the lottery.
As reported by Max Truman of Danslescoulisses.com, TSN scout Craig Button has released his list of top prospects for the upcoming NHL Draft. Not surprisingly, we find forward Shane Wright at the very top of the list, despite the fact that he is not unanimous among the various experts.
Right now, the link between Wright and the Habs is easy to make as many fans of the team would like to see him arrive in Montreal next fall.
Journal de Québec reporter Kevin Dubé went to meet the young man as part of the Canadian Hockey League's top prospects game Wednesday night in Kitchener, Ont. The young man can very well see himself wearing a Canadiens uniform one day.
It's still too early to speculate whether Shane Wright will ever play for the Habs, but imagine if he were to be the very first pick of the 2022 draft in a CH uniform at the Bell Centre. That would be quite a debut in the NHL.
This season, Wright, who plays for the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Junior League, has 77 points in 52 games and also played for Team Canada at the World Junior Championship last December.
