As we know, the Winnipeg Jets forward is on his way to having the best season of his career and despite this, many experts expect Dubois to test the free agent market without compensation in the summer of 2024.
Of course, Habs fans are already salivating at the idea of seeing the Quebec forward land in Montreal, but it could very well be that Pierre-Luc Dubois' possible arrival with the CH will be sooner than expected.
As reported by Raphaël Simard of Danslescoulisses.com, trade rumours concerning Josh Anderson have been growing lately. Now, a well-connected informant would like to see a trade that could involve Anderson and Dubois.
In an article written a few days ago, Eric Engels of Sportsnet mentioned that a trade between the Habs and Jets was possible. However, the tipster said that if a trade were to happen between the two teams, it would not be during the current season.
Understand that Dubois is having a terrific season and that his team is battling with the Dallas Stars for the top spot in the Central Division, but the Jets forward will be a free agent with compensation after the season.
So there could be a possibility that Kent Hughes will contact his Jets counterpart, Kevin Cheveldayoff, for a possible trade. However, Engels believes that the Habs will wait until the summer of 2024 to possibly bring Dubois to Montreal.
But by then, it could be that the latter has come to a long-term agreement with the Jets and Hughes would have lost his bet on the Quebec forward.
So, we could perhaps see a transaction between the two teams during the summer. However, it is obvious that Josh Anderson alone will not be enough to acquire Pierre-Luc Dubois.
To be continued.
