Brandon Gignac, a well-known name to Habs fans and a consistently reliable player when needed (whether for Martin St-Louis' squad or Pascal Vincent's), has suffered a long-term injury.
It's unfortunate for the Quebec-born forward, as this injury comes at the worst possible time and at a critical moment in his career.
Brandon Gignac, who has only played 15 games this 2024-2025 season, will have to sit out again, this time due to a lower-body injury.
See the confirmation from the excellent Anthony Marcotte:
This is a significant loss for the Laval Rocket.
It must be so frustrating for Gignac, who has had such bad luck this season and has struggled to stay healthy.
Brandon Gignac, 27 years old, is a 5-foot-11, 195-pound forward from Repentigny, and he was a third-round pick by the New Jersey Devils in 2016 (80th overall).
This season, he has recorded 6 points in 15 games with Laval, but as we mentioned earlier, he did not finish some of those games and played several while dealing with discomfort.
Last season, he finished as the Rocket's leading scorer, with 55 points in 61 games (19 goals).
Gignac also scored 1 goal in 7 NHL games with the Montreal Canadiens.
A situation to monitor closely.
