Surprise: Major statement from Jonathan Drouin regarding his future
As you know, a few hours before the NHL trade deadline, Quebec forward Jonathan Drouin made an interesting statement. He expressed openness to being traded, to try his luck elsewhere, and possibly join a team that aspires to a long playoff run. In the end, he was not traded.
Considering that Drouin's contract expires this summer, and considering the statement mentioned above, many assumed that Jonathan would not be returning to Montreal next year.
Not so fast.
A big surprise statement from Drouin today:
"I see the light at the end of the tunnel (...) I want to be a part of it."
-Drouin on the end of the season and working with Martin St-Louis in the future.
All reported by Marc-André Perreault of TVA Sports. In short, during his press conference, Drouin clearly opened the door to return with the Canadiens next year. He loves playing for Martin St-Louis and wants to be part of the Canadiens' rebuild (or comeback).
