On Saturday, still riding high from the win, he learned that his OHL junior team, the Mississauga Steelheads, had traded him to the Peterborough Petes in a mega trade.
This trade gives Beck the opportunity to win another championship as the Petes are one of the top teams in the OHL. With the addition of Beck, they could now go far in the playoffs.
The young forward was off to a great start this season with the Steelheads. He had 17 goals and 23 assists for a total of 40 points in 30 games before joining Team Canada.
His performances greatly impressed his former head coach with Mississauga, James Richmond. He even stated in an interview that he believes Beck will play in the National Hockey League next season and that he will not be back in the Juniors.
That's quite a statement from Richmond! However, it's important to note that Beck, at 18 years old, will not be eligible to play in the AHL next year. If he doesn't make the cut with the CH, he'll have to return to the OHL. Kind of like what Joshua Roy went through this season.
It remains to be seen if the 33rd overall second round pick in the 2022 Montreal draft will prove his former coach right.
