The Detroit Red Wings are not having a good season, with only 39 points in 38 games.

This summer, former Canadiens defenseman Ben Chiarot signed a four-year, $4.75 million contract with the team. So far this season, he has a poor 10 points and a -12 rating, which fans are not happy about. Fans believe that Chiarot should be playing on the third pair of defensemen.

"I don't care how much he's paid, Ben Chiarot should be playing on the third pair."

Reporter Jared Book responded by saying that at least the defenseman didn't cost the team anything, while the Florida Panthers gave the CH a first round pick to acquire him. OUCH!

It remains to be seen if the fans' request will be fulfilled by head coach Derek Lalonde. To think that the Habs and Kent Hughes managed to get an unprotected first round pick against him. That's quite a steal!

Detroit is coming off a three-game losing streak and a playoff run is looking increasingly out of reach.
