Indeed, the Swiss organization where the Habs' last first-round pick, HC Kloten, is currently playing, made a very significant transaction. They acquired another young right-handed defenseman.
This addition suggests the departure of a player on the blue line, probably Reinbacher, as the organization already had 7-8 healthy defensemen. This is what many analysts, including the excellent Marco D'Amico, think.
With the recent departure of Gustav Lidstrom and the injury to Brady Keeper, the Montreal organization only has four right-handed defensemen in its structure. At the Rocket, only Logan Mailloux, who was recently selected for the AHL All-Star game, has this handedness.
According to D'Amico, Kent Hughes will have to weigh the pros and cons of bringing his protégé to the Rocket sooner rather than later. Would leaving him on a losing team in Kloten be more beneficial than seeing him play in the AHL with a team that has a new lease on life and desperately needs a top 4 defenseman? Asking the question seems to answer it, in my opinion.
