With 11 games left in the Habs season, it is now more than likely that Carey Price will make a return to action soon, with some suggesting he could even be in net for his team on Monday night at the Bell Centre against the Winnipeg Jets.
The goaltender is on the team's current trip and playing a few games between now and the end of the season will allow Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton to evaluate him and see what plans they have for his future in Montreal.
Regarding Price's future with the Habs, my colleague Christian Matte at Marqueur.com reports an interesting point brought up by Darren Dreger.
He was on TSN 690 this Friday and he suggested that Carey Price's future in Montreal is going to depend on one person, Carey Price.
"Jeff Gorton, Kent Hughes and Geoff Molson are going to have great respect for Carey Price. If Carey is open to change, and in fact, wants change, I'm sure the Montreal Canadiens will oblige.
Also according to Dreger, the new staff of the Habs will assess the situation well and he does not believe that Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton will put pressure on Price to agree to lift his no-trade clause.
"Do I think the Canadiens will pressure Carey Price to be traded? No, I don't think so. But they're going to do their homework with Price and have that conversation, which will happen at the right time."
You know, it's a matter of caution. I think the Montreal Canadiens have been patient and supportive. It's not a negative story. They've allowed Carey Price to work on his knee issues and be healthy on and off the ice and obviously he's a much healthier player."
The fact that the organization has shown patience with its number one goalie is undoubtedly a proof that he is still part of the plans and especially it shows all the respect that the new leaders of the Canadiens can have towards Carey Price.
Now, the ball is in his court regarding his future in Montreal.
