The Philadelphia Flyers have announced that they have placed the name of Quebecer Nicolas Aube-Kubel through waivers. He will therefore be available for the 31 other formations of the Bettman circuit.
Aubé-Kubel, 25, was a second round pick of the Flyers in 2014. He had managed to make his place in Alain Vigneault's team for two years, but it seems that he is no longer in the team's short-term plans.
Aubé-Kubel is a very hard-working player, capable of playing in all situations. He has 28 points, including 10 goals, in 102 NHL games to date.
Could Aubé-Kubel see his himself claimed by the Montreal Canadiens? Marc Bergevin and Dominique Ducharme really like this style of player, plus the fact that he is a Quebecer. Without taking anything away from Alex Belzile, Aubé-Kubel would be a better bet on the Habs' fourth line and he has more raw talent.
We'll find out tomorrow around 2pm.
