Xhekaj admitted that it's always hard to take.
It's not Martin St-Louis' fault, but he has to deal with this (happy) problem.
As my colleague Keven Mawn mentions, it's Jordan Harris who's been the biggest loser in this excess of defensemen so far.
It's clearly not a situation that everyone is in agreement with right now, and some are even going so far as to outright call for a veteran trade:
And he's not the only one who thinks that.
Beaudoin believes, as do many experts and analysts, that Harris deserves to play and be put back in the lineup more frequently. He'll play tonight, but let's face it, he's skipped his turn a lot in the last few games.
The youngster has indeed been left out more often than not since Mike Matheson's return to the lineup, despite a promising start.
Is it time for Kent Hughes to make a trade involving a veteran defenseman to make room for the youngsters? Many believe so and the first name mentioned is Joel Edmundson.
Edmundson is a solid veteran who could probably follow in the footsteps of a guy like Ben Chiarot. He would be very useful to a team that hopes to go far in the upcoming playoffs.
Either way, something is bound to happen. It doesn't seem like a good plan to leave a bright prospect like Jordan Harris in the stands. He needs to play games. Ditto for "WiFi" and Kovacevic.
Will it come down to trading a veteran? By sending Harris back to Laval? It will be a matter to follow, but rest assured that Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton are weighing their options right now.
Let's not forget Justin Barron, who will also eventually want to play minutes in the NHL.
What would you do if that was your decision?
