According to the information from reporter Kevin Kurz, assigned to cover the San Jose Sharks, forward Timo Meier could indeed be available on the trade market. The 24-year-old forward has two more seasons on his contract, while carrying a hefty salary of $6 million annually per season.

According to Kurz, Meier could be of great interest to the New Jersey Devils. Don't look too far, he and Nico Hischier know each other very well, as they are both from Switzerland. In addition, they have had success together at the international level with their native country.

Meier has great potential, as he is still very young. He had 66 points, including 30 goals in 78 games in 2018-2019, which seemed to be a breakout season for him. However, his team had very little success, so he blended in with them. He had 49 and 31 points respectively in the last two campaigns. That sounds respectable, but considering Meier's talent, it's far too little for a player of this talent.

Perhaps a change could be beneficial for the winger, especially if it is to play alongside his good friend Hischier. The two would undoubtedly form an explosive duo for the Devils, who are sorely in need of an offense, or even wingers to complement Hughes and Hischier.
