This Tuesday morning, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun mentioned in an article that the Ottawa Senators would, in the near future, be in the process of selling the team.
Hours after Garrioch's announcement, Sportico reported that Galatioto Sports Partners, a New York-based investment bank, has been retained by the family to sell the franchise.
The Senators are worth $655 million, according to Sportico's most recent valuations, which rank 27th in the league. That's a 21% jump over the past year, the largest year-over-year jump in the league.
Remember that the team has been owned since the death of Eugene Melnyk by his daughters. It is therefore not surprising that they decided to put their father's toy up for sale because of a lack of interest.
