In the final seconds, reporter Rob Williams (Daily Hive) just revealed yesterday's attendance for the very first day of the 2022 World Junior Hockey Championship.
"Attendance numbers for the first day of the #WorldJuniors in Edmonton.
The three games combine for just 1,635 fans:
Czech Republic-Slovakia: 430
Latvia-Finland: 376
USA-Germany: 829"
There are many reactions when these are really embarrassing numbers. In an amphitheater that can hold thousands and thousands of spectators, 376 people is literally as if there was no one there.
Plus, those numbers include the players' families and loved ones.
As reported by a few journalists, the atmosphere for this special edition of the tournament is very different (non-existent) and Hockey Canada is asking a lot of questions.
Is the scandal involving Hockey Canada having an impact? It's hard to say, but we'll have part of the answer tonight, during the first game of the Junior Team Canada.
