The real reason why Carey Price is still in Montreal revealed: Kent Hughes will soon place him on the long-term injured reserve list
The name of goaltender Carey Price has come up frequently in the news over the last few hours, notably because he addressed the media to answer questions from journalists as part of the announcement of his new partnership with CF Moto.
He notably discussed his intentions regarding his future with the Canadiens and gave an update on his health status.
However, Carey is currently in town for another specific reason, as reported by the excellent Luc Gélinas (RDS):
"Carey Price is in Montreal to promote this all-terrain vehicle but also to undergo his annual medical exams with the CH."
That's why he is staying in town a little longer.
He must undergo these medical tests to confirm to the NHL authorities that he cannot play this season and that he is eligible to be placed on the long-term injured reserve list, by Kent Hughes.
It is expected that he will fail these physical tests and be placed on the long-term injured list.
This way, he will collect his paycheck throughout the season, covered by insurance.
That being said, Carey also mentioned, in a press briefing, that he intends to return to Montreal often this season and that he will be present for the opening match.
