We are less than 40 days away from the start of the next season. We now know the number that will be worn by the Canadiens' latest addition, Christian Dvorak, which is 28. But for the moment, we don't know who the new center will play with. We can build some scenarios though, especially with the exceptional depth on the wings.
While perusing a post by Eric Engels (Sportsnet) this morning, I thought his logic was pretty good about Christian Dvorak's potential teammates. If he was in Dominique Ducharme's socks, he would put together Christian Dvorak, Tyler Toffoli and Joel Armia. Joel Armia? Don't forget that his size and his singular talent in puck protection make him an interesting asset to stay in the back of the opposing territory.
The intelligence of Toff and D-Vo, accompanied by the big whips in Army, could make for a scrumptious recipe: "Armia's carrier and disc protection skills could be a great fit for Dvorak and Toffoli, but he'll need to produce regularly to hold down a spot on that line," said Engels.
He's not in left field, but it's important to remember that Dominique Ducharme will have to juggle a ton of wingers who have the ability to play on the Canadiens' future second unit, including Brendan Gallagher, Jonathan Drouin, Josh Anderson, Mike Hoffman, Tyler Toffoli, Joel Armia and Cole Caufield. Although Caufield is "locked in" on the first unit with fellow forward Nick Suzuki.
So what do you think of Joel Armia on the second line?
