In the last few hours, many rumors were sending defenseman Brett Kulak to the Montreal Canadiens, who had ended negotiations with the Edmonton Oilers and became free as a bird today.
Finally, the situation was reversed. Edmonton improved its offer and Kulak will not be back in Montreal. He just signed with the Oilers! We are talking about a four season contract extension worth $2.75M per year.
Still!
Kulak earned $1.85 million in 2021-2022 and let's also remember that he was traded to the Oilers last March in return for a second round pick this year, which became Lane Hutson by the way, a seventh round pick in 2024 as well as defenseman William Lagesson.
LeBrun just confirmed that the Habs offered Kulak a contract today, as did a few other teams, but the Oilers won that derby.
Would you have liked to see Hughes offer a four-season contract worth $2.75 million per year to Kulak?
