According to the information of the excellent Elliotte Friedman (Sportsnet), former Montreal Canadiens defenseman Ben Chiarot, who seriously considered returning to the Tricolore, has finally signed with the Detroit Red Wings.
Remember that Ben Chiarot was traded to the Florida Panthers by the Habs a few months ago (just before the 2022 trade deadline) for: a first round pick in 2023 (unprotected), prospect Ty Smilanic and a fourth round pick in 2022.
Looking back, this is definitely a very solid deal for Kent Hughes! Chiarot, 31, had 18 points in 54 games with the CH this season, and 8 points in 20 games with the Florida Panthers. He is coming off his best season ever in the NHL.
More details to follow!
