As we reported yesterday, Hockey Canada has just unveiled its final roster for the 2022 World Junior Hockey Championship, which will be held in Edmonton in a few days.

Check out the lineup right here:

Indeed, Joshua Roy has received quite a bit of news for breaking into the Canadian lineup. (It's absolutely deserved, by the way)

Roy, 18, was drafted 150th overall in 2021 by the Habs. He has 119 points in 66 games in the QMJHL in 2021-22.

Riley Kidney (CH) is also on this roster.

However, in terms of absentees, among the Montreal Canadiens' prospects, we immediately notice the absence of defenseman Kaiden Guhle.

Clearly, he was not ignored because of a lack of interest from the Canadian management, since he would have been the pillar of Team Canada Junior on the blue line.

Raphael Simard (DansLesCoulisses) thus brought up an interesting point and a logical theory.

"My theory: Montreal wants to start him in the NHL, and right off the bat. Having him play in Laval, too, is a possibility, though. Kent Hughes and the organization just want to rest him before his professional career officially begins.

As Brian Wilde points out, Guhle has professional games to play and sending him to the WJC from August 9-20 is not necessary." - Raphael Simard

There are many pundits who are disappointed that Guhle will be absent, but on the other hand, those same pundits also consider it good news (in a way) for Montreal Canadiens fans, because it could mean that the verdict is in on Kaiden Guhle.

Obviously, we should expect to see him play professional games this fall, and probably with the Montreal Canadiens. That's promising!

Where do you think Guhle should play to start the 2022 season?
