Regardless of who faces the Avs in the Final, it will break up one of the most hilarious, yet unbelievable, sequences in Stanley Cup history. It will be the first time since 1979 that no player in the Stanley Cup Final has been a teammate of Jaromir Jagr in the NHL.
Reportedly, four of the 16 teams that participated in the playoffs did not have Jagr's direct teammates: the Colorado Avalanche, the Los Angeles Kings, the Tampa Bay Lightning and the New York Rangers. By beating the Blues, the Avalanche prevented Brayden Schenn, who played with Jagr in Philadelphia during the 2011-12 season, from continuing the streak.
Jagr is definitely a legend in the hockey world. His first season in the league was in 1990 and his last season in the NHL was in 2017-2018. Not only did he play for nearly 30 years, but he played for nine different teams throughout his career. To add to that, even today at the age of 50, he is still rolling in professional hockey with the team he owns, the Kladno Knights.
Due to his longevity and the number of teams he has been connected to countless NHL players. Even at the beginning of the streak, in 1979, the Stanley Cup Final featured at least one player who would go on to become a teammate of Jagr.
Honestly, this sequence could be one of the most breathtaking sequences in all of professional sports, and it is truly a tragedy that it is coming to an end.
