The Hockey Opinion page decided to conduct a poll about the most hated teams in the National Hockey League, and let's just say that some of the teams that make the list are very surprising, as is the absence of the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers are not even in the top-9 most hated teams in the Bettman circuit. Really? Yet, it's one of the clans I hate the most...
As for the first two spots, Montreal Canadiens fans won't be stubborn since they belong to the Toronto Maple Leafs (1st) and the Boston Bruins (2nd). In the 3rd place, the Vegas Golden Knights? Oh yeah??? Yet, I know many people who love this franchise. But to see the Montreal Canadiens in 4th place, it threw me even more down.
Every place the Habs visit, there are fans of this team, indicating how popular they are around the world.
The Tampa Bay Lightning follows the Montreal Canadiens in 5th place, most likely due to Nikita Kucherov's antics after their Stanley Cup Final victory. The Islanders and Rangers are hated because they are in the New York market? As for the Penguins and Capitals, I guess the anti-Crosby and anti-Ovechkin have something to do with it, right?
In short, this ranking should be taken lightly. I would be curious if a network like RDS or TVA Sports would create this type of poll, the results would definitely be different.
