After appearing in just one game last year, the former player of André Tourigny has been working hard in practice to secure a spot with the Minnesota Wild.
"I know I'm in better shape than a lot of NHL players," he said. "So there's no question that I can play there. I know how good I am. I know it's going to be up to me to show that I'm ready," he added.
Rossi, who hails from Austria, has been on a tear while playing in the OHL. He scored 120 points in 56 games with the Ottawa 67's.
Since then, many rumors have surfaced about the possibility of a trade involving the 19-year-old. Rossi isn't worried about that at all.
"I've definitely seen a lot of rumours on the internet, but I've always said the same thing: I can't control that kind of thing. I want to have the focus on what I can control, and on things that are going to show the Wild that they don't need to trade me."
The chances of Rossi landing a job in Minnesota are excellent, by the way. Admittedly, the Wild aren't the most talented team on offense in the NHL by any means. The addition of a playmaker of Rossi's stature certainly won't hurt.
Rossi is already superior to many players in the Bettman system, according to him. However, the Austrian has not played a single professional game in North America. Do you think his comments are excessive? It's up to him to prove that he's right.
