Even though the sample size is quite short, only ten games, it is safe to say that the CH's new GM was not totally wrong. Dach and Monahan are currently tied for 3rd in points on the team, behind Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield, with a total of 6 points.
It's a very small sample size, let's face it, but if they keep this up, they could reach 49 points over 82 games. That would be more than satisfactory for a first season with the CH, especially under the circumstances of the club's rebuild.
Beyond the stats, both forwards are currently playing good hockey. If Dach took some time to get going, it was not the case for Monahan. The veteran seems very comfortable in the red and white and if he stays healthy, he could be one of the biggest surprises of the season and give Hughes a headache. Will he trade him and get a good pick or keep his services for next season?
For his part, Dach, who has three more seasons left on his contract at $3,362,500 on the payroll, still has time to develop. Don't forget that he is only 21 years old and that Martin St-Louis can work miracles with young players. Will he succeed in making Alexander Romanov forget him? This will be another very interesting case to follow!
