In the last few hours, big rumors have surfaced between the Montreal Canadiens and the Calgary Flames, involving forward Josh Anderson.

Let's recall that the journalist of TSN Calgary, Salim Nadim Valji, made this statement via his Twitter account:

"This is a player that the Calgary Flames have, in the past, had a very real and significant interest in, and I wonder if they could acquire Josh Anderson (salary held back by Montreal), as they look to have some more depth up front."

He's obviously talking about Josh Anderson here, a forward who would be ideal in a system of play like the one advocated by Flames head coach Darryl Sutter (more so than in Martin St. Louis' system, according to the experts).

Anderson, 28, 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, has 6 points (4 goals) in 13 games this season. He is signed at $5.5 million per year through 2027.

New from the renowned Elliotte Friedman.

Probably the most well-connected tipster in the entire NHL, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, brought some interesting new information to the table last night, and he confirmed some things.

In particular, Friedman confirmed that the Flames are currently actively looking to make a trade to acquire a goal scoring forward (just like Josh Anderson).

The Sportsnet tipster also confirmed that this is exactly the type of player that Calgary has been trying to acquire for quite some time, and the type of player that the Calgary Flames have, in the past, shown a very real and significant interest in.

So will they come back and try to acquire Josh Anderson? Is Kent Hughes open to the idea? This is a file to follow in the coming weeks.
