Renaud Lavoie discussed this on TVA Sports.
So we're going to have to keep a close eye on the goaltenders who make it to waivers, and right now there are two with some NHL experience.
The first is Zane McIntyre, a former Boston Bruins who had a very solid start to his AHL career, but never quite established himself in the NHL.
The second is perhaps more interesting: Collin Delia, 28, is a veteran of very porous defenses and was the favorite to become the number one goalie for the Chicago Blackhawks after the departure of Marc-Andre Fleury.
In 32 career games in the NHL, he has maintained a .904% efficiency rate, which is good under the circumstances and pretty solid considering it's 32 games in front of the Chicago net.
He had a great career in the NCAA and in the AHL, he wanted to establish himself in the NHL this season with the Vancouver Canucks, behind Thatcher Demko, but he is currently on waivers. We are talking about a very technical goalie who seems to have some potential.
Is he a better goalie than Samuel Montembeault (.892 career efficiency)? It's hard to say, but we imagine that Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton will evaluate this option.
The purpose of this article is to give you a heads up on the possibility that the Montreal Canadiens will eventually ask for a goalie on waivers. Renaud Lavoie believes that this is a possibility, so we'll be watching for names to come up.
Stay tuned!
