Victor Mete gave the Canadiens some very proud services during his time in Montreal. The former fourth round pick in 2016 played on the first defensive pair alongside Shea Weber for about two years until Ben Chiarot arrived.
When the Habs started adding quality left-handed defensemen to their roster, the smaller defenseman's role began to take on less importance. He fell down the hierarchy of the Habs, notably due to his lack of consistency in his game.
Now a member of the Senators since last year, the 23-year-old is enjoying his time in Ottawa. D.J. Smith, the head coach of the Ontario team, seems to have a lot of confidence in Mete, despite the small mistakes he can make.
Mete was quick to point out the confidence of his coach.

It's easy to deduce that Mete's statement is a direct jab at the Montreal Canadiens organization. In his last few miles with the Red, White and Blue, Mete was considered unloved in some ways, as his bad moves were calculated much more than his good ones.
He was clearly no longer a fit for Dominique Ducharme's team when Marc Bergevin decided to put him in the pool. Mete was able to build up a lot of confidence with the Senators, and we hope that it will not be temporary.
