The word has been circulating for a while, but a replacement has just been identified to possibly replace Jean-François Houle as head coach of the Laval Rocket.
This is the first name that has been mentioned.
We are obviously talking about an extremely important position within the Montreal Canadiens organization, a key role for the development of the Canadiens' young players.
As reported by the TVA Sports network, among the names circulating as a possible next head coach of the Laval Rocket, there is "the head coach of the Drummondville Voltigeurs, Sylvain Favreau, who is about to compete in the Memorial Cup tournament with his team."
Interesting!
It must be said that everyone within the Montreal Canadiens organization is extremely silent at the moment regarding the future of JF Houle behind the bench of the Laval Rocket.
This is generally not a good sign. And we have TVA Sports adding to it:
Paul Byron is indeed another possible name.
That being said, Favreau is a logical name, notably because he has a very similar path to that of Dominique Ducharme.
Favreau is also the one who lost in the final last year against Patrick Roy and is also the one who just won the Gilles-Courteau trophy.
It will be interesting to follow his journey at the Memorial Cup, but don't be surprised if, when it's all over, he becomes a serious candidate for the Laval Rocket.
It is logical for Kent Hughes to let Favreau enjoy his moments at the Memorial Cup before discussing his possible future within the Canadiens organization.
