Journalist Jimmy Murphy has just published an interesting statement regarding the next assistant coach for Martin St-Louis and the Montreal Canadiens.

According to him, Mark Recchi should be seriously considered for the assistant position.

Let's remember that the Canadiens still haven't replaced Alex Burrows, and a new name has started circulating for Montreal.

«And now, the availability of Mark Recchi is drawing attention.

What you need to know is that Recchi was informed yesterday that he would not be returning to the Blue Jackets organization, where he spent last season.»

- Marc-Olivier Cook

Recchi now needs to find a new position, having suddenly become available.

Could this former assistant captain of the Montreal Canadiens (many years later) become an assistant coach for the Montreal Canadiens?

That's what Jimmy Murphy seems to believe.

Mark Recchi as Alex Burrows' replacement and as assistant coach to Martin St-Louis with the Montreal Canadiens?

See his exact statement:

«If I were the Montreal Canadiens, I would seriously consider hiring Mark Recchi for the vacant assistant coach position.»

- Jimmy Murphy

After all, Recchi has a lot of experience, he has previously played with Martin St-Louis, and he has always been recognized for being extremely good with young players.

Recchi even worked alongside Pascal Vincent last year with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Do you think he is a good candidate?
