Canadiens Prospect Ivan Demidov Rejects Multiple Offers with One Goal in Mind
In recent weeks, rumors have circulated that SKA Saint Petersburg was trying to extend its agreement with Ivan Demidov. Three offers have reportedly been made to the Montreal Canadiens prospect.
The forward seemingly hasn't signed anything, and according to Bob Hartley, the chances of that happening are quite low.
Bob Hartley received interesting information from those close to Ivan Demidov
The former head coach of the NHL and KHL was recently on air during the RDS show L'Antichambre and revealed some interesting information about Demidov's future.
According to the information he gathered from those close to the Canadiens' prospect, Demidov is aiming for the NHL as soon as possible.
«People I know who hang around Demidov tell me that he's excited to play for the Montreal Canadiens, that he's eager to play in the National Hockey League. And of course, that's music to our ears!»
- Bob Hartley
It's clear that Demidov has no intention of continuing his association with SKA.
This is very good news for the Canadiens!
A visit from Kent Hughes that greatly inspired Ivan Demidov
Last December, Kent Hughes, along with Vincent Lecavalier and Nick Bobrov, flew to Russia to pay a visit to their prolific prospect. While Demidov had been playing well before this visit despite limited ice time, things seem to have really clicked since.
As noted by Samuel Thibault from RDS, Demidov has accumulated no less than 20 points since the Canadiens' front office visited Russia. This all came in just 15 games.
Ivan Demidov before the Canadiens' visit:
6 goals, 20 points in 33 games
Average ice time: 10:48
Ivan Demidov since the Canadiens' visit:
13 goals, 20 points in 15 games
Average ice time: 17:02
The young man, who is only 19 years old, also scored his first hat-trick in the KHL in the past few days.
These images make us even more excited to see him arrive in North America!
