While waiting for that day, the young Canadiens prospect must finish the last season of his KHL contract with SKA St. Petersburg.
To the great disappointment of Canadiens fans, Demidov is being used sparingly by his coach, Roman Rotenberg.
Despite his success, having accumulated 20 points in 33 games (including 6 goals), he appears to be enduring the typical treatment reserved for a rookie in that league.
Proof of this misuse: Demidov dominated the recent mini-tournament Channel One Cup, where Belarus, Kazakhstan, and foreign players (KHL Stars) competed.
He even emerged as the MVP of the competition.
Check out the stunning goal he scored this weekend:
Back with his KHL team, Demidov was in action on Tuesday.
What a surprise it was to see Vincent Lecavalier attending the game.
And that's not all.
Additionally, it seems Lecavalier was not alone at the game, his boss, Kent Hughes, was also in attendance.
Several people confirmed this on social media, including Renaud Lavoie.
Amusingly or not, Demidov, the 5th overall pick in the last NHL Draft, started the game on the team's third line for the first time in a while.
Maybe a promotion with Hughes and Lecavalier in the stands?
Coincidence or not? You be the judge.
